Dermal filler/Skin boosters
After treatment, slight redness, swelling, itching and some tenderness at the site of the injections may occur. This is normal and will generally disappear over the next 7-14 days.
- Keep well hydrated (2-3 litres of water) for the next 3 days.
- Avoid alcohol 24 hours after treatment.
- Apply some ice to the area if tender/swollen- such as an ice pack (no more than 15 minutes).
- Avoid strenuous exercise and heat treatments, such as steam, sauna for 48 hours.
- Avoid creams with alpha hydroxy acid or glycolic acid around the area.
- Avoid direct sunlight or sunbeds and wear a high SPF sunscreen to prolong the duration of filler.
- If you suffer from cold sores, there is a risk of activating them.
- If taking aspirin, clopidogrel, warfarin or any other blood thinning medication you should be aware that there will be increased likelihood of bleeding or bruising at the injections site(s).
- If itching or swelling occur, a general over the counter antihistamine can be taken for a period of one week.
- Arnica cream/capsules can be taken to prevent bruising.
- Keep the area sterile.
- Alcohol, smoking and sunshine will reduce the life of the filler.
Anti-wrinkle injections:
Before anti-wrinkle injections, try to avoid alcohol for 24 hours prior to treatment to help prevent bruising. It is common to experience some swelling, tenderness and possibly some bruising around the treated area. These are quite common side effects, and are usually temporary (max 2-3 days)
- Preferably avoid touching the treatment area, if this is unavoidable when cleansing, treat the area gently.
- No strenuous exercise for 4 hours after the treatment.
- Remain upright for 4 hours – do not lie down or rest head forward for long periods of time, i.e. no gardening, hoovering etc.
- Avoid alcohol 4 hours after treatment.
- Avoid rubbing or massaging eyebrows for 24 hours.
- Avoid sauna/hot tubs/steam room/sunbeds for 24 hours.
- Avoid beauty salon peels or microneedling facials for 2 weeks.
- Wear a sunscreen daily – it helps to reduce/prevent sun damage.
- Anti-wrinkle injections will normally “kick in” at 7 – 10 days, day 14 at the latest.
- A free review appointment is offered up to 21 days after your initial treatment, which can be cancelled if you are happy with the results after 14 days.
- We are not able to reinject before 14 days.
- Recommended treatment plan is every 12-16 weeks.
Skin Peels:
- Do not apply anything to the face (or peeled area) including sunscreen prior to 4 hours post peel application.
- Makeup may be applied after the 4 hour time frame.
- If significant discomfort is experienced when applying any post peel products after treatment, discontinue use and cleanse the face with soap and water.
- The post peel protectant may sting upon application, which quickly subsides.
- Prior to peeling, any areas of pigmentation will appear darker. This change in colour will be most evident on the second day, however it can happen immediately. This is normal and the darker skin will exfoliate during the peeling process.
- During the peeling phase, you must avoid sun exposure, but still use sunscreen. You may go out in the sun when exfoliation subsides, but your skin will be more sensitive to UV rays.
- Apply SPF 50 sunscreen every 2 hours.
- During the week after the peel, you must use a gentle cleanser.
- Refrain from forcing or peeling the skin as it can cause scaring or PIH.
- The skin will slough when washed morning and night.
- No hot water, warm and cool only.
- If itching is experienced, you may wash your face or take an antihistamine.
- Typical peeling begins on day 3. Day’s 3, 4 and 5 are the most aggressive days of the peeling. By day 6 most exfoliation has subsided.
Skin needling:
- This treatment can improve skin texture and tone, refine wrinkles and reduces scars such as acne or stretch marks whilst preserving natural appearance.
- The most commonly reported side effects are redness, swelling, bruising, tenderness, tingerling, numbness, lumpiness and – or feeling of pressure and fullness at the injection sights and – or in the treated areas.
- Visible results may take between 2 – 6 weeks and varies between individuals.
- Cold gel packs or cold compress can be applied to reduce swelling and tenderness.
- Avoid scrubbing the area and injection sight for at least 12 hours.
- Avoid exercise and heat treatments for 48 hours.
- Avoid make up for at least 48 hours or until healed.
- You may return to your regular skincare routine once the skin has healed,
- Avoid any acid based or retinol creams for 72 hours post treatment.
